Free Concert
1970 Megeve/ France Gringo... I love this one as there is a story behind it. Gringo were playing a club in the famous ski resort , and were thrown out of the venue for being too loud. Our manager of the time Tony Cox , went to the mayor of Megeve ,offering a free concert in the town square. To our amazement the mayor not only gave the thumbs up, but had a stage built and advertised the event throughout the town. The result is captured well in this photograph. John Perry is in the foreground, Casey Synge , Gringo's singer in the Hot Pants is centre stage and I'm in the background , on lead guitar. The other fond memory of this occasion is my forming of a firm friendship with Phil Pickett who is somewhere in that crowd. It was a couple of years later that he came to me with the offer of joining what eventually became Sailor.
