The Real Living Legend

Hillingdon 2000
Frank Allen of The Searchers

Then of course there is my favourite of them all.
Meeting the Searchers was actually the high spot of the 90's for me.
If you're a fan, you're a fan and that's it.

The Searchers are for me the most authentic and entertaining band still playing from my favourite era of music.
I was in verbal conflict with a younger musician recently , who was dismissive of the Beatles' early music declaring that only from Revolver onwards did they start to sound 'cool'.
This attitude I feel is the down side of the Oasis , Inspiral Carpets generation awareness of '60's music.
Although like all of my generation I marvelled at Sgt Pepper , it was the early Mersey sound that first really set me alight. It was definitely that energy that caused young hopefuls like myself to pick up a guitar for the first time and want to form a group.

The Searchers still evoke that thrill in me every time they play and may they long continue.

This picture is taken at Frank's house during one of his many dinner parties.
Great hospitality followed by a chance to jam with some more heroes. What could be better ?

Bruce Welch ( who is probably the reason why anybody in England ever wanted to play electric guitar in the first place)

A great evening.
