One Last Summer
Poster & Flyer for 1st Musical : March 1995: Atlanta, Georgia.
An unlikely location for the premier of a Surfing musical about middle class Californian adolescents , aspiring to make it in the mid '60's .
However Atlanta is a beautiful city , and the audiences at the Alliance Theatre were very receptive.
Barry & I had written and arranged most of the songs in a pop format and really just hung around while the experts converted the work into a musical. I didn't have a clue what to do.
Scott Woolley was the Musical Director , and was very gracious to us, doing a tremendous job with the songs.
The story centres on a fictious band, The Californians (pictured above) who are loosely based on Jan & Dean and the Beach Boys.
The backdrop of the impending Vietnam conflict gave it an edge , and was also quite a courageous direction taken by David Bell.
Left to Right : David Gunderman,David Silverman,Roy Chicas,Hunter Bell & Guy Adkins.
